Position Title:        Salesperson

Reports To:            Manager of Retail Sales

Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Salesperson is to generate sales by creating for the customer a positive shopping experience through extension of a warm greeting, sharing of relevant knowledge and experience, and effective presentation of merchandise.

Essential Duties

• Ensures that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes quickly acknowledging every customer in a positive, personable manner
• Answers customers’ questions
• Guides customers to desired merchandise or connects them with more knowledgeable co-workers
• Maximizes opportunities to sell related merchandise and Gift Cards
• Handles customer purchases, returns, exchanges, merchandise credits, check authorizations, and discretion discounts (for example, price matches and employee sales)
• Verifies customer’s age on ATF-controlled items (for example, firearms, ammunition and knives)
• Resolves customer concerns in manner that respects customer while following accepted operating guidelines
• Completes all sale transactions according to range policies and procedures
• Stamps, marks, tags or otherwise assigns price to merchandise
• Maintains orderly display of merchandise on shelves, end caps, counters and other areas
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of store layout and merchandise locations
• Supports range’s loss control efforts through diligent observation of customer behavior and purchases
• Completes all required paperwork in a neat, careful and timely manner
• Keeps retail space clean and orderly
• Performs other duties as required or directed

Essential Physical Requirements

• Ability to move or handle merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stoop, bend, reach, push, pull and move merchandise as necessary
• Ability to hear pages, telephone conversations and general announcements
• Ability to move around the store as necessary to assist customers
• Ability to recognize and identify merchandise and read necessary reports
• Ability to work a varied schedule as business conditions dictate
• Ability to stand an entire work shift

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of

• Basic loss prevention techniques
• Basic math skills: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Applicable experience with products similar to those offered at the range (preferred)
• Prior retail sales experience (preferred)
